Many rice cooker capacity labels are confusing because rice cooker cup measurements are usually smaller than normal kitchen cups. A rice cooker “cup” is often around 180 ml, while a standard measuring cup is about 240 ml. That means a 5-cup rice cooker does not usually mean five standard cups of uncooked rice. Capacity often refers to uncooked rice measured with the supplied cup. Always use the cup that came with the cooker and follow the inner pot water lines. This helps prevent overflow, undercooking, and wrong rice texture.
